Getting started
How do I create an alarm?
Tap + on the Alarms screen, set the time, choose the days it repeats, and under Challenge pick Push-ups and the number of reps. Tap Save.
Which permissions does PushAlarm need?
Alarms so it can ring through Silent mode and Focus, and Camera so it can count your push-ups. Saving a video to Photos is optional and only asked for when you save one. If you declined a prompt, turn it back on in the iOS Settings app › PushAlarm.
Which iPhones are supported?
Any iPhone running iOS 26 or later. The alarm relies on AlarmKit, which Apple introduced in iOS 26.
When the alarm rings
Will it ring on Silent, in a Focus, or with the screen locked?
Yes. That is what AlarmKit is for. Keep the volume up in Control Center if you want it loud; Silent mode doesn't mute it.
How do I stop the alarm?
Tap Start push-ups on the Lock Screen or in the app, put your iPhone on the floor and do the number of push-ups you set. The alarm stops as soon as the last rep is counted.
Where should I put my phone?
On the floor, about an arm's length or two to your side, with the screen and front camera facing you. The camera should see you from the side, from head to feet. The phone can lie either way round.
What if I can't do push-ups one morning?
Tap I can't do this on the challenge screen, then Turn Off Alarm. The alarm stops and the morning is recorded as incomplete. Any reps you did still count in your history.
Counting
A push-up didn't count. Why?
PushAlarm only counts full reps: lower until your elbows reach about a right angle, keep your hips in line with your shoulders, and push all the way back up. Also check that your whole body is in frame and that the skeleton over you is visible.
If full, clean reps are regularly missed, please email us with a description of your setup. It helps us tune the counter.
The skeleton doesn't appear.
The camera can't see you well enough. Turn on a light, move the phone a little further away so your whole body fits, and make sure nothing is blocking the front camera.
Can I do knee push-ups?
The counter is designed for standard push-ups. Knee push-ups may not be counted reliably. If you need an easier morning, lower the rep target in the alarm instead.
History, videos and privacy
Where is my history?
Tap the gear on the Alarms screen. You'll see a grid of the past year, your current and best streaks, and your totals.
How do I stop the app from recording my set?
Turn off Record my set in the app's Settings. Recordings are otherwise kept only until you close the preview, and never leave your iPhone unless you save or share them.
Is my camera video uploaded anywhere?
No. Everything is processed on your iPhone and PushAlarm has no server. See the privacy policy.
How do I delete my data?
All of it lives on your iPhone. Deleting the app deletes your alarms and history. Videos you saved to Photos stay in Photos.
